General Labor Line Worker

Summary
Perform general labor production tasks on an assigned line or work station.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The essential duties for this job include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  • Keep up with line flow placing packages into boxes
  • Check labels and apply to carton
  • Maintain appearance of work area
  • Cut bad ends from brats coming out of twist linker, removes bad pieces of product and adds to rework. May dump rework.
  • Makes sure each tray has proper number of product on it, removes bad product, replaces with good product, and verifies product is in proper direction on trays.
  • Check weights, performs metal detector check, makes visual check of product.
  • Makes sure machinery is running correctly, visually checks product, changes film, stacks bad wrapped product, puts product through wrapper for correct application.
  • Verifies use and application of proper labels, verifies quality of package, changes labels, and verifies boxed quantities.
  • Makes sure correct box being used, makes boxes, puts outside label on box, puts box through taper, stacks on pallet as required, records pallet times, changes tape.
  • Place bags on the edible tubs, weigh product or tie the bag and send it down the line.

Education & Experience
Less than high school education required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is desirable. Previous packing experience is helpful.

Language Skills
Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong helpful.

Physical Demands
The employee (by themselves) must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds and occasionally 50 or more. The employee must be able to withstand walking, lifting, bending, repetitive arm, shoulder and wrist motion.

Work Environment
Must be able to work in an environment that averages about 45 degrees or colder.
